Adjunct/Part-Time Faculty Positions in Computer Science




The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Pacific University seeks qualified, experienced instructors for part-time teaching assignments in Computer Science. Part-time instructors teach on a per- course basis, and there are two courses for which we seek instructors. The courses are:

*     CS380 (Algorithm Design and Analysis): This is a sophomore level algorithms course taken by computer science students that introduces the students to asymptotic analysis, design and analysis of sorting algorithms, advanced data structures, graph theory, and other selected topics. The students are expected to program algorithms in C++ and use inheritance & virtual functions.

This course will run from August 26, 2013 until December 11, 2013 and is currently scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 4:45-5:50pm, though there is some flexibility in scheduling if necessary. Instructors will also be required to keep at least two hours of office hours per course
per week.



*     CS 130 (Intro to Software Tools): This course is taken by science students and will introduce students to software tools that aid in this process. Software that is widely used at Pacific includes: Excel, SPSS, Word, and PowerPoint. Class includes lab projects and we will provide the curriculum.

This course will run from August 26, 2013 until October 14, 2013 and is currently scheduled on Monday and Wednesday from 2:15-3:30pm, though there is some flexibility in scheduling if necessary. Instructors will also be required to keep at least two hours of office hours per course per week.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of a B.S. in Computer Science or a Technology related field and must have authorization to work in the United States.
