Debra Johnson graduated summa cum laude after completing her BS in three years. She then went to Oxford University as the first ever Rhodes Scholar from OSU's College of Engineering and received a Master of Philosophy in Management Studies in 1997. Debra returned to the US to work for Nortel Networks in Raleigh, North Carolina, in their Operations Leadership Development Program. She is now the Senior Manager of Operations Engineering for the circuit pack manufacturing business, supervising 48 engineers with responsibility for all process, test, and product engineering for the plant which has eight manufacturing lines. She has been involved in numerous service activities, most notably with Girl Scouts of America. During her senior year at OSU Debra taught a Hands-on-Engineering class for freshmen to increase the retention of underrepresented students. She also played first clarinet in the OSU Symphonic Band. Debra Johnson has been recognized many times for her academic and service achievements.
